Speaking Task – Level 4
Summative assessment (10%)


Task:  You and your partners are invited to the National University radio station in order to share with the listeners one idea that you have to change the world.
Purpose:  Discuss information about a global need.
Situation:  The National University radio station has a program called ‘La UN investiga’. You and your partners are invited to the program in order to explain to the radio listeners a world need that you have identified and the idea you have to tackle the issue.

To sucessfully develop this task you should:
1.    Introduce yourself to the listeners: What do you study? What are your academic interest?
2.    Discuss the idea you have to deal with the need taking into account the following information: What is the problem about?  Why are you interested in this problem? What are the causes of this problem? What are the effects of this problem? Whether problem has ever been addressed before, and what the outcome was.When people have this need or problem, what do they normally do? What would you like to do to change this situation?

Criteria to evaluate this task:
The student is able to:
20% understand questions about the particular need without much repetition or clarification.
20% answer questions smoothly without much hesitation expressing his/her ideas clearly and completely.
20% speak without major pronunciation errors, and his/her pronunciation is clear and accurate.
20% use the vocabulary s/he needs to refer to the particular need.
20% present ideas with appropriate language choices/construction. The student produces the structures to talk about facts, giving suggestions and opinions such as: (1) sentences in simple past, simple present and perfect tenses.
